 Parks and Recreation

Halfmoon Township park and recreation facilities are managed by the Parks and Recreation Board, which is appointed by the Board of Supervisors. 
Halfmoon Township has numerous activies available to its residents.

Photo of Municipal ParkIn addition to the Municipal Building (click on the photos for a larger view), Halfmoon Township has two parks that are available to be rented by Halfmoon Township residents (the parks can also be rented by the general public). Photo of Municipal ParkPhoto of Municipal ParkThe Municipal Park is located beside the Halfmoon Township Municipal building on Municipal Lane, accessible from State Route 550 in the Village of Stormstown. The park and the pavilion are located in a large grove of trees with a number of playground facilities for children. There are also a baseball diamond and a basketball court. Municipal Park is located away from the main road for a quiet family or group picnic.

Photo of Municipal ParkThe other park is known as Autumn Meadow Park and is located on Smith Road between Autumn Circle and Sky Harbor Drive. This park features a football field and also has a swing set for small children.

 Halfmoon Township Parks & Recreation Rules & Regulations

Halfmoon Township parks and recreation facililties are available for private use by the families of Halfmoon Township.
These are managed by our own Parks and Recreation Board. To check on their availability please call the Township offices at 814-692-9800.

The costs for reserving these facilities are as follows:

  • Municipal Building

      Non-profit groups - No charge (a donation will be accepted). A deposit of $20.00 is required for the key.
      Private Parties - $20.00 Building Use fee, plus a $50.00 Security Deposit (refundable after use).

  • Park and Pavilion

      Resident- No fee required, however it must be reserved
      Non-Resident- $35.00 Use fee

Halfmoon Township also contains approximately 3000 acres of State Game Lands, which are located roughly in the northeast part of the Township (see map).

Halfmoon Township conducts summer, Easter and Christmas programs for the children of Halfmoon Township residents. The Summer Park Program is run every summer. Preschool Park for children ages 3 and 4 is held on Monday; the Summer Park program for school age children from 5 through 14 is offered Tuesday through Thursday. The program runs for six weeks and is held at Halfmoon Township Municipal Park on Municipal Lane beside the Halfmoon Township Municipal building.
